Since 1992, advanced development of an intercooled recuperated (ICR) gas turbine engine for naval ship propulsion has been progressing under a U.S. Navy contract. This paper summarizes progress on the ICR engine development. An overview of the program plan is presented including discussion of significant changes made since contract award. The engine development status is discussed including the significant accomplishments, the recovery from an initial recuperator failure, and the remaining development work.
